Davide Soliani, the man responsible for bringing the Mario + Rabbids franchise to life, has announced that he’s parting ways with Ubisoft.

Soliani took to X to share the announcement, saying that he’s been working at Ubisoft for 25 years now, and 11 of those years have been spent with the Mario + Rabbids franchise. While his reasoning is unknown, Soliani said hedecided to leave Ubisoft to embark on a new adventure. Soliani also said he can’t share more info on where he’s headed next.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with the Mario + Rabbids franchise from here on out. As Soliani was the heart and soul of the brand, a new installment would require someone else stepping into some very big shoes. We’re guessing Ubisoft has no intentions of lettering the collaborative series die, so we’ll just have to hang tight and see how things play out.

As for Soliani, we wish him well in his future endeavors and will certainly be following along wherever he goes.

UPDATE: Cristina Nava, the producer for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope has also left Ubisoft. Nava has already secured a development role somewhere else, but she said she’s not in a position to reveal where she’s moving just yet. (h/t VGC)
