Nintendo seems absolutely cursed in recent years when it comes to leaks of their major first party titles. Game after game has made its way online weeks before release, and now we’re seeing that happen yet again.

We’re sad to report that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has indeed leaked online. We’re not sure of the where and how, but the end result is just the same. The game has now made its way throughout the internet, which of course means ne’er-do-wells are out to spoil the fun for everyone.

If you plan to play Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom without anything spoiled, please be careful where you spend your time online. We won’t be sharing any details at all from the leak, but obviously the rest of the internet is different. Be extra careful on social media, mute specific words or phrases, and just generally be mindful of where you spend your online time.

Nintendo has a problem with this. Tears of the Kingdom was leaked early and people playing on emulators too. They’re going to turn to day-one patch requirements before the game is playable if this keeps up.

The problems with supply chains are numerous. Anyone from manufacturing can get a copy to dump online. Q/A teams can get copies to dump online. Game reviewers can get copies early to dump online. Stores can get copies early with staff that can dump copies online.

Players may get copies early from stores and dump games online. Hackers can breach digital stores to get digital copies to distribute online. Hell even people within devs and pubs can leak full games in advance. Eventually we're going to get to a point devs and pubs are going to need to hire security and vet all people involved in handling games.

Nintendo may also just stop distributing physical copies to stores and make everything you have to order from nintendo.com only in the future since they may not want to 100% go digital right now (but they might in the future).

@ngamer01 At Nintendo, a leaked digital game is unplayable. It lacks the access key that release on launch day. The leaks come from physical games.
