There have been all sorts of rumors about the Switch successor over the last year+, and they’ve only grown in number in recent months. Discussion and speculation about the new system is at a fevered pitch, and this week kicks off with the return of a rumor that was originally discussed months back.
You might remember talk of the Switch successor implementing a scroll wheel into the controller somehow, and apparently that rumor is one that won’t die. This time around, a supposed Reddit insider says they’ve gone hands-on with a dummy model of the Switch successor, and they’ve seen the scroll wheel for themselves.
According to the Redditor “Adjacent-Adjunct,” the scroll control is part of the Switch successor’s shoulder buttons. Supposedly the Joy-Con will now have shoulder buttons a scrolling feature similar to what you see on a computer mouse. That said, these scrollable shoulder buttons can still be pressed down, and done so without accidentally scrolling. …and yes, for those wondering, you do get a tactile “click” feeling when you scroll, again, just as you would with a computer mouse.
Interesting that this rumor should pop up once again, but you know the drill by now. None of this is official until Nintendo says so, so don’t get your hopes up. The real fun will be seeing how many of these rumors ended up being spot-on once Nintendo finally pulls back the curtain!

7d agoThat sounds interesting but wouldn't we have seen this in the prototype leak?

7d agoCould be likely if they want another way a controller can break (mouse scroll wheels do) if they want to sell even more controllers than the joycons already.
Halfjoking aside, it could probably be used more in games than it is, but feels mostly like a helpful tool in menues and scrolling websites so far.
