There are certain mainstays when it comes to Legend of Zelda titles. You know there are going to be puzzles to solve. You know Link is going to be involved somehow. You know Shigeru Miyamoto is going to be in the credits…well, until Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, that is.

A whopping 338 people are listed in the credits for Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, but believe it or not, Shigeru Miyamoto isn’t in there. This marks the very first time Miyamoto wasn’t mentioned in the credits of a Zelda game. We’ve known for awhile now that Miyamoto has been stepping back from active game development, but to hear he wasn’t even part of a new Zelda game is pretty darn wild.

There’s another interesting discovery in the credits, as Nintendo’s Takashi Tezuka also isn’t listed. This is just the third time he wasn’t mentioned in the credits of a Zelda game, with the other two instances being Tears of the Kingdom and Zelda 2.

With Miyamoto not making the cut this time around, it makes you even more curious as to how close he was with this project. There’s no doubt it passed before his eyes and he was aware of it, but did he really do so little with it that he didn’t warrant a credits mention? It’ll be interesting to see if his name pops up in other Zelda games going forward!

Thanks to GameFreak613 and Maxnichols for the heads up!

Not surprising. I’m sure the next Mario game will not have Miyamoto present in the credits either.
I think they should still honour him with a “Created by…” style of credit.

Sorry I hit report instead of reply lol.
There is a way Miyamoto might not be working on Mario. He’s 71. He’s over due for retirement. And he said a few years ago that he’s stepping away from bigger game development.
