Plenty of developers and publishers have found success on the Switch, but Devolver Digital has to be near the top. The company went all-in on Switch, and it paid off with hit after hit. That’s why it’s no surprise to see the publisher share such kind words about Nintendo.

In an interview with GameReactor, Devolver Digital COO Graeme Struthers spoke extremely highly of Nintendo in general, as well as the Switch and what its done for gaming.

“I think a lot of the people who work at Devolver, as well as a lot of the developers who work with Devolver, are fans of Nintendo, from the NES to the Super Nintendo, so working at Nintendo is something that a lot of us have always wanted to do.

The Switch, I mean, did something that was perhaps against the grain. It wasn’t high-definition, it was a simple proposition and that made it much more accessible to indie players. I think it’s probably more challenging for AAA to try to work in that space. So I think we’ve benefited from that as well. I think we’ve released something like 50 different games on Switch now.”

With all the success Devolver has found on Switch, it’s no surprise they’re also thinking about Switch’s successor. While Struthers stopped short of pledging official support, he did make it sound incredibly likely that the publisher would make their way to the platform, even hinting at one potential release.

“We’re excited about whatever Nintendo wants to do next and we have to wait, like everyone else, to see what it is. But, yeah, we’re excited. So I’m pretty sure you’ll see some of the games, maybe even this one (said in reference to Neva).”

Devolver’s interest in getting Neva on the Switch’s successor matches that of Nomada Studio, the team creating Neva. With that being the case, it really does seem like Neva is going to be a lock for Nintendo’s next platform.
